System Services covers the foundational capabilities every modern app needs but most teams shouldn’t have to build from scratch. Archie pre-selects the services your app needs based on the plan; you tune the configuration here.

Available services

The catalog includes:
  • User Management — authentication methods, role-based access, onboarding flows. Configure email/password, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Apple sign-in. Toggle a guided onboarding wizard for new users.
  • Notifications — in-app, email, and SMS channels. Pick which channels to enable per notification category.
  • File Storage — managed file storage for images, videos, and documents. Used by the Assets surface.
  • Payment Processing — payment types (one-time, subscriptions, usage-based, invoices) and methods (cards, ACH, digital wallets, manual). Drives the Stripe integration.
  • Audit Logs — record system events. Levels: Basic (security events), Standard (security + business actions), Advanced (full traceability — coming soon).
  • Multi-Language Support — internationalization for the generated frontend.

What this drives

Each service influences:
  • Backend infrastructure — auth providers and token handling, file-storage buckets, notification channels, audit-log tables
  • Integrations — turning on Payment Processing pulls Stripe into the integration set; turning on SMS pulls Twilio
  • Frontend flows — sign-in screens, onboarding wizards, notification preference panels
  • Data model — users, roles, audit_logs, and similar shared tables come from these services

Editing

Toggle services on or off, change configuration (e.g. enable Apple Sign-In, change audit-log level), and Archie re-generates the relevant parts of the code on the next generation pass. You don’t need to re-run the plan.

FAQ

A system service is a capability (Notifications, Payments). An integration is the third-party provider that powers it (Twilio, Stripe). Turning on a service usually adds the corresponding integration to the project — you can swap the integration but not skip having one if the service is enabled.
Not as a first-class system service today. Custom capabilities live in Custom Functions and your data model. The system-services catalog is the curated list of cross-app capabilities Archie maintains.
Advanced (compliance-ready) audit logging — full traceability of every data change — is in development. Basic and Standard levels work today and cover most use cases.
The services themselves are part of the platform. Their underlying integrations have provider costs (Stripe transaction fees, SendGrid email volume, Twilio per-message charges) — those are billed by the provider, not by Archie.
